Are atx motherboards compatible with atx extended cases??

Yes, there is just more room inside. The difference of space, is towards the opposite end, of where the expansion cards are attached. (Where the expansion cards,{PCI, AGP, PCI-Express, etc.}, screw down to the metal frame of the computer case, the opposite side.) On the Support Plate inside the computer case, it should have holes threaded, for different form factors of motherboards.

1.Motherboard form factor:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motherboard鈥?/a> (Long page, scroll down. Chart at bottom, has sizes listed for various motherboard form factor.)

3.Photo showing the Support Plate. in this view, it's on the bottom. You can barely see the brass threaded spacers.
