ATX is the standard for motherboards. The specs will state if it is an ATX motherboard, but if you are ordering it from a component website, there is a good 90% chance that it is. If you are going off ebay or another auction site, you should be a bit more cautious. People like to part out Dells and other computers that stray far from ATX specifications. As such, you will want to ask whether the board is an ATX board. If they don't know, get the model of the board and check the manufacturers site for specifications. Is there an easy way to tell if a motherboard will fit in a atx case? ?
First, it will have an ATX power connector ONLY and no AT power connector
Second it'll be described as an ATX mobo by the maker.
Thirdly it'll be small enough to fit into the case (if it's a micro-ATX case for instance). Is there an easy way to tell if a motherboard will fit in a atx case? ?
Not 100%, but generally, if it has a back plate with the bunch on connectors on the back, then likely it is an ATX form factor motherboard, and ergo should fit into most ATX cases.
