Not really. You can get better performance by upgrading your RAM for the most part, and you don't risk overheating the system.
I'll sometimes buy one of the slower chips supported by the motherboard and upgrade to a faster chip a year or two down the line. That's a cheaper way of getting better performance.Do you think its worth me buying a ATX case, a new motherboard and cpu cooler just to overclock?
The short answer.... No!
Although many people overclock with no problems, it's not the safest thing to do.
Save yourself some grief and spend it on an upgrade or a new system.
