Would my Micro-ATX Motherboard (9x6 inch) fit in this Computer Case?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as鈥?/a>

It says ATX and mines Micro ATX, but I've heard it will still fit in the case.

Would it?Would my Micro-ATX Motherboard (9x6 inch) fit in this Computer Case?
why not ask me?

of courseWould my Micro-ATX Motherboard (9x6 inch) fit in this Computer Case?
Yes, a Micro ATX motherboard can fit in a full-size ATX case.
yes it will

Can an Motherboard with a Form Factor ATX fit in a MicroATX case?

So I plan on buying an ECS BLACK SERIES GF8200A Motherboard:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as鈥?/a>

Form Factor: ATX

Dimensions: 12.0'; x 8.7';

and I was wondering if it would fit in a Antec Mini P180 Case:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as鈥?/a>

Type: MicroATX Mini Tower

Motherboard Compatibility: MicroATXCan an Motherboard with a Form Factor ATX fit in a MicroATX case?
no .. an ATX board is about 3 x 3 inches bigger than a microATX board(ATX - 12.x X 12.x vs microATX - 9.x X 9.x)Can an Motherboard with a Form Factor ATX fit in a MicroATX case?
No it has to be a mico board if you are fitting it in that case.

My recommendation to you is to get the same case but with an Intel core 2 Motherboard.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduc鈥?/a>

and pair it with this and 2Gb DDR2 pc6400.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduc鈥?/a> , I have used this combo in a number of builds and they are fantastic little boards and have a HDMI , DVI and VGA sockets so you can connect directly with a HD TV, and added bonus of Gigabyte's easy restore system which works a treat.

It's a relatively powerful and cheap combo and would be hard to beat for price/performance.

so you can have your cake and eat it. LOL
No ATX is the form factor like the dimensions basically so a full size ATX mobo wont fit into micro atx
No.

Can you put an atx mobo into a gaming cube case?

mobo is an asus m2n32-sli deluxeCan you put an atx mobo into a gaming cube case?
Is it a full ATX, or a micro-ATX? I don't believe most cube cases will hold a full ATX board.

Can some one please tell me that this case fits as a micro-atx mobo?

can you lok at the motherboard tray and see if this case is able to fit the micro atx in it. also please look at the specs to confirm your answers. thank you

http://www.raidmax.com/specs/smilodon.htmlCan some one please tell me that this case fits as a micro-atx mobo?
This is an ATX case, it will accept your micro ATX board no problem.

All you need to do is look at the ';form factor'; of a case.

Most cases have a ';form factor'; or ';compatibility'; listing. If the case is only designed to hold Micro-ATX or smaller motherboards, a full-sized ATX motherboard won't fit.

Micro atx motherboard would fit to my standard casing ? ?

and would it fit to my e7200 intel cpu ?

thanksMicro atx motherboard would fit to my standard casing ? ?
Generally speaking, yes. ATX, whichever ATX, is built on the same basic standoff pattern (the standoffs sit on the case and the motherboard sits on them).

However, if it is a proprietary case, ie. HP, Dell and so on, not a custom or barebone case, then it may not be truly standard, or adjustable. If you have the documentation for your case, it will tell you.Micro atx motherboard would fit to my standard casing ? ?
To know for sure you need to look at your computer's user manual. But generally speaking if your computer is a full/mid-tower it will not fit it will be far too small.

Micro ATX is meant to be used in shuttle-esque type boxes.

    www.shuttle.com

You will need to get an ATX motherboard most likely but, again, check with your manufacturer's user manual.

Would a atx mobo fit in this case?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156135Would a atx mobo fit in this case?
Yes the specifications say that it is compatible with ATX Form Factor 12'; x 10.5'; or smallerWould a atx mobo fit in this case?
Yes, on the bottom right it specifically says its a ATX Mid tower.

But every case I have boughten over the years (since early 90's) , have multiple screw holes to accomodate different mother boards. When you install your mobo, you will see you have many empty screw holes on the case left over. Those are the holes that would have accomodated an AT or baby AT mobo.

Can a micro ATX board fit in a normal case?

It will fit sort of but it's likely the mounting points and access paths will all be in the wrong places.

Sounds like a very bad idea to me.Can a micro ATX board fit in a normal case?
yes it can you'll just have a lot of room left over

The card is good for gaming, but it could over heat with your MOBO setting if you OC it. I have this card and I had some stability problems and overheating, but i fixed it with an extra 120mm fan and playing with the settings.

The card will fit in the tower, but will cause you not to be able to some of your other slots, so if you are running a sound card or an NIC card, they might have to be moved, but i think you MOBO should already have these built in.

9 and a half inches long after power connected. Power plug adds some.. Happy Gaming : )Will the bfg gts 250 OC video card fit in the Apevia X-Cruiser ATX Black Mid-Tower Case? 10 points?
    - No it's not good for gaming, It's GREAT for gaming. With the GTS 250 u could play Crysis on Med-Maxed settings no problem let alone the overclocked version of the GTS 250.

    - Yes it should be able to fit in your case, but it might be a bit of a tight fit and u might need to rearrange some of your wires to get it to fit.

The real question is, Does your motherboard support it? Remember the GTS 250 oc is a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 Graphics Card, which mean u MUST have at least 1 PCi-Express x16 port on your motherboard for it to work.
I would say it will fit. It might be a tight fit. Dimensions of an ATX board are 12';x9';. If you case is built to fit an ATX board then it should have plenty of room for your Mirco ATX and that card. Just make sure that your board has the slot needed for the card before you buy it. It would terrible if the card fits but your motherboard wont support it.

If all else fails you could always do a little modding with a dremel and a cut off wheel.
    1) Yes, that video card is good for gaming.

    2) The card will fit.

to poster below, you might wnt to check that, dimensions mean crap when it comes to compute rtowers, 1) those are the outside dimensions and 2) the tower must SUPORT that style of motherboaard, aka it must have the correct connectors placed in the correct spots in the case to fit the atx board which it looks like this one does, jsut because the case is bigger in size than the motherboard does not mean it will fit it.Will this case hold a Full size ATX Motherboard like this Motherboard?

A good ATX media centre PC case?

I'm looking for a PC case that will hold a full-size ATX motherboard. The case needs to be a sideways model, as it will be going in the stand with the tv for easy connection to the AMP and TV from there. I dont care too much about looks, as long as it is black I am fine. It can be any size, and about the width of an average sized pc turned on its side at most. The answer to the question: Yes you can.

Please note that most current dual core AMD processors will severely bottleneck the HD4870X2. I strongly recommend using intel quad cores [of course, overclocked because stock clock will still bottleneck the card] if you want the HD4870X2.Could i put a 4870x2 on this micro atx motherboard in my huge antec 1200 case? is it possible?

  • Can An ATX PSU fit in a Gateway Micro BTX case?

I have a gateway computer and the PSU fried, so I need to know if any ATX PSUis fine to replace it.Can An ATX PSU fit in a Gateway Micro BTX case?
The PSU might fit...but that isn't the only problem. BTX motherboards take a different power pin configuration on the motherboard than an ATX PSU. Unless there is some adapter that I'm missing then you will have compatibility problems unfortunately.

Now as for that actual dimensions of the PSU, there is some hope. The difference between an ATX case and a BTX case only really varies by the dimension of the motherboard, making the sides of the case larger than a comparable ATX case (ex. MicroATX and MicroBTX). However, a PSU that is named with the 'Micro' prefix will physically fit into an MicroATX or MicroBTX case. The same goes with standard ATX and BTX PSUs, the PSUs will fit unless the case has some sort of strange proprietary situation with the parts (usually only seen in Dells). Just make sure you have the right power pins for your motherboard and you should be set. Hope this helps!

Will an ATX motherboard work in an EATX case?

Should fit...just check the specs carefully of the case. Will an ATX motherboard work in an EATX case?
I going to say it will. I thinking eATX are more server boards and basically use an ATX configuration for the screw mounts.

But, I would hate to make a promise. I would ask whoever you getting the MOBO or Case from.

(Extended ATX) An ATX motherboard with an extended length of 13'; instead of 9.6';.

From this we can assume the eATX case have the room for the ATX to fit. The width should work, so, you know there six screws that should fit and the bottom/top three may not reach, depending how you place the board. So, you can make some screw holes ';IF'; it not already have or just fix something to help support the board. Odds are it will have the screw mounts already for an ATX board.

Hope you understand what I try to explain.

It probably doesn't because Antec doesn't specify that it's compatible with mATX mobos. However most ATX cases will also accept mATX, but I won't count on it for this one.

Micro atx in full tower case?

Will my micro atx mobo fit in my full tower case?Micro atx in full tower case?
it should. My case is designed to do it but I can also tweak my case to take any board I want. (benifit of $400 cases.) I would check the case specs just to be safe though.Micro atx in full tower case?
yes I'm writing this answer from a PC with those specs.
yes there is a pattern on the base follow the holes, you will need to but ends in there to mount the board
check the m/b specs.;it will give you board layout and dimensions
Definitely. The full tower case comes with mounting holes for ATX boards (12'; x 9.6';), and micro ATX (9.6'; x 9.6';). The Extended ATX (12'; x 13';) has the same mounting holes as ATX, thus would also fit.

Do you really need a rackmount case? Or Hot swap harddrives? A bit of an overkill for most people.

server motherboards are alot different that normal mobos.
    Yes.

You know that is a rack-mount case made for a high-end server right? You can't really use this for a normal computer.

If you have to ask if the motherboard will fit, you shouldn't buy an $800 case...
Should fit as it is not restricted to micro-atx.

  • Power-up ATX Mid-tower case/need help!!?

i got an ATX mid tower case and it came with a power supply. now usually the front panel switch comes in one cord but its all split up. i think i got that part right but also coming from the panel is something that looks like it hooks into the power supply. one of the cords comes out and bridges into two. a four pronged and a four insert. they look like they can be plugged into each other. then the other cord is only a two prong. Can someone tell me how to hook this up.Power-up ATX Mid-tower case/need help!!?
    Can you be clearer please?

usually the cord from the power button goes into the motherboard

any other cords from the front panel are usually for features like usb/firewire/memory card reader, they also o to the motherboard.

The best thing to do is the see your motherboard manual and case manual for hints on what goes where

How do I know if a case is ATX form factor?

I recently moved into a new apartment. The previous tenants left behind an old, full-tower server case in a back closet. It's heavy, metal, and about 3.5' tall... Oh, and it looks like it was spray painted blue... How do I figure out the form factor on an old case like that (short of just putting a board in and seeing if it goes). I'm thinking (just as the original owners probably were) that it would make a fairly kewl new PC (lots of room to work with (should making cooling easier). If it had a power supply in it, then I'd know what it was... I could not find any identifying markings anywhere on the case. How do I know if a case is ATX form factor?
take it to the shop you plan to get the motherboard from and get them to identify the anchor points against a board, or, if you know someone with an old mobo in their closet, grab it and sit it on the anchor points to see if it lines up.

chances are it will just fit, but it is kind of a huge case so probably worth checking first.

Should I change everything from my HP PC into an empty ATX Mid Tower Case?

I have a pavilion 754n and I am working on upgrading it since it is almost 5 years old and only supports 1gb of ram, I want a new motherboard and obviously a new CPU.

I know that I need a new power supply and a new motherboard will probably not fit into the default tower.

I am thinking about buying an ATX Mid Tower Case with a 600W PSU, is it easy for me to just switch everything from the default tower into the new empty tower? This way I know that the new motherboard will fit in the tower and I would get a better Power supply since this PC comes with only a 200W PSU.

I also think it is cheaper to buy an entire case with a power supply unit instead of just buying a new 600W power supply unit. correct?

Yuppers. It would be a lot nicer and easier for you to just get a new case, they're not expensive and of course you'll need the extra power from the new supply to operate all of the new and more demanding hardware devices that you'll no doubt be adding to the unit as time goes on. You'd burn the old power supply up by trying to use it. I've got a 500 watt in mine but then again, I'm running a lot of extra stuff on my system, not to mention 3 cd/dvd rom/burner drives. Larry RadioShack 01-9590 Great question by the way and thank you for particpating.
The quick answer is yes. But if your computer is 5 years old and u r getting a new motherboard u must also get a new CPU to go with it and new RAM and if the new motherboard has only SATA ports for HDD a new hard drive. Also, most good video cards are PCI-e nowadays and many motherboards dont have AGP slots anymore so u may have to buy a VGA card as well if urs is AGP.

Atx power supply in my btx case?

is it possible to fit an atx psu in a btx case? if not, then will it necessarily fry my components if i just lay it outside the box considering it is atx and my mobo and case are btx?Atx power supply in my btx case?
It's POSSIBLE, to fit an ATX form factor power supply into a BTX computer case. It may NOT be easy however!

I suggest you DO NOT use the power supply outside of the case.

    Why?

    Yes, it will work.

You need longer power cables. (Don't forget about the 20/24 pin ATX power supply to motherboard cable! This baby needs to be longer also!

    One more thing.

See those wires that go into this connector? The insulation of the wires is orange, red, black, yellow, and a few other colors? The Orange wire is 3.3 volts. The Yellow wire is 12 volts. The Red wire is 5 volts. The Black is ground. Green designates a 'Soft Power-On' wire.

Some computer manufacturers back in the day, {I believe they have stopped this practice now, but don't quote me}, switched the wires around.

    The color code of the wire was still the same. The voltages still matched the color of the wire {Insulation}

However, the wires were not put in the socket holes, in the 20/24 pin connector, in the usual place. The standard placement.

They were moved to other socket holes in the connector. This meant if a user bought a power supply from an outside source, other than the computer maker, it burned up the computer!

Why? Because the voltages were in the wrong socket hole. 12 volts might be in the 3.3 volt hole. Poof!

Why did some of these computer manufacturers do this? There are many beliefs.

1.They did it, to dissuade people from using parts that weren't theirs.

The computer manufacturer. People were installing stuff that wasn't compatible with their computer. They didn't know better, and may not have researched the subject first. Computer doesn't work now, or has fried components inside. The user, thinks the computer maker should fix it. The computer maker, thinks the user should have had an authorized computer shop, do the work.

    2.The computer maker wants their parts used. The prices are high. Buy from them, or don't buy at all. The user believes this is unfair, {Justly so}

Let's say this power supply is sitting outside the case. It has a metal box, with ventilation holes for it's case.

Now what if a glass of liquid is accidentally spilled on it? It will spark out, and smoke.

What if the liquid is touching you, or someone else? Liquid is a Conductor. It Conducts Electricity.

You, or that person, will get SHOCKED! 120 volts or higher! (220 to 240, if your country uses this voltage!)

Add to this, that a liquid will get into the pores of the skin.

This can cause the shock to be FATAL!

What if someone under age comes in, and puts a metallic object through one of the ventilation holes? Have any younger brothers or sisters? They will get SHOCKED! At their age it can be FATAL!

So you see, it's NOT A GOOD IDEA!

Edit: BTX IS a Form Factor! However the idea behind the BTX form factor, is why an ATX power supply, MAY not just be readily put in a computer case, that uses an ATX form factor power supply!

ATX form factor power supply's, are usually mounted in the top of the computer case. (Top/Back)

They suck air UP from inside the case, and blow it out the back.

BTX power supply's are usually mounted on the bottom. (Bottom/Back)

They suck air DOWN from inside the case, and blow it out the back.

Looking at the back of a computer will reveal the way a power supply is mounted. (From the back. Not referring to the case designs, that use mechanisms to keep the power supply locked into position, on the inside of the case)

There are four screws. These are in a rectangular pattern. EXCEPT for one screw. It is offset to the inside.

Usually if you try to mount an ATX form factor power supply, in a BTX case, you will have the position of the fan sucking air off of the BOTTOM of the case! The ATX design, points the fan down. It will now be about a half inch, off of the bottom of the case! NOT GOOD! You have to make another hole in the case, so that the offset screw on the power supply, can be installed. I do not recommend using three screws. Vibration will make it noisy!

    Maybe.

If you had a generic case from Antec, Enermax, or a case vendor, the answer would likely be yes. Since the case manufacturer doesn't know what motherboard you'll be using, they pre-drill holes for several types of motherboards. You would the screw the motherboard posts into the holes matching your motherboard.

However, Dell makes their own cases and they usually make them to fit the specific motherboards they plan on putting in them. That means that if your current motherboard is an ATX-style board (Since Dell makes their own motherboards in many cases, this is not guaranteed either, but it is likely), Dell may not have drilled screws in the case for other form factors. Short of taking out your current motherboard, you may be able to remove the part of the case under the current motherboard to get a look. If you see small, empty holes there (around 1/8'; in diameter) you may be in luck. If not. you could try to drill your own if you are very handy. (The tolerances are pretty small.)

If your Dimension 2400 is over a few years old, you'll likely need a new power supply to run any current motherboard, CPU and graphics card. It may just be time (and will probably be simpler in the long run) to get a new case.

Use some measuring tapeAtx or MicroAtx Case? ?
MicroATX cases are generally shaped like a box or a very short tower. The difference between MicroATX and standard ATX cases is fairly obvious, and few PCs are sold in MicroATX cases, so if you don't know which it is chances are it's a standard ATX case.

If you're planning on buying a PCIe graphics card, then you should make sure you have about 10'; of clearance between the front of the PCIe slot and anything that might block the card (hard drives, cables, etc.). Also make sure you don't have any case fans or anything like that directly above the PCIe slot.

As for the power supply, just make sure the one you get doesn't have a lot of unnecessary connectors. For example, if you don't plan on installing more than one graphics card, don't get a power supply with more than one PCIe power connector. They'll just end up wasting valuable space and reducing the airflow in your case.
Any standard sized ATX power supply will fit in either an ATX or micro-ATX case, except for the ones with specially made and included power supplies. Might not be a good idea to try to stuff one of those extra long kilowatt power supplies in there though.

Also, make sure your graphics card isn't too long to fit in a micro-ATX case if you want to go that route.

In a nutshell, you shouldn't need to worry about the PSU. 99% chance that it'll fit. However, make sure you have a shorter graphics card if you want a micro-ATX case.

It should. Mid-tower means it is 'middle height' (3-4 visible drive bays) versus a full-height tower (which are usually very tall comparitively speaking- like 7-10 visible drive bays)... A mini tower is usually a short computer case (maybe 1 or 2 visible drive bays-cd rom bays, etc). Will an atx motherboard fit into an atx mid tower case?
It should. Mid tower simply means isn't a full sized tower, or not as tall, having less CD-Rom, floppy and hard drive rack mounting points.

ATX is the standard form factor for all home built computers. Micro ATX is a bit smaller than standard ATX, but any case that uses the ATX format will take micro ATX motherboards. The only form factor that requires a special case is ATX-E. E meaning extended. This is for workstation and server computer stations. You may use any standard ATX size case for a micro ATX motherboard.

Those mini form factor cases only take mini-ITX type motherboards.

The good news is you can get a mini-ITX motherboard for $50...or $40 after rebate.

There's a reason these cases exist and that is because they are cool. Falcon-NW.com makes what they call a fragbox. You can get the air circulation to cool it down but a lot of times you have to resort to water cooling.

Antec also makes an open case solution that is about the size of one of the minis...but your current motherboard can fit inside of it.

Here's the link for that one. It's an awesome case.

Motherboard size for my Mini Tower Case? MicroATX or ATX?

I have this Mini Tower Case which is:

    Height: 14';

    Width: 6';

    Depth: 15';

Now, I want to buy a new motherboard.

My question is, what mobo size will fit in my case?

    microATX or ATX size motherboard?

Please help.Motherboard size for my Mini Tower Case? MicroATX or ATX?
ATX is 9.6 by 12 inches so it may fit, but micro-ATX should fit. If your case has at least 5 expansion slots, then ATX will fit. However Micro-ATX motherboards will fit in almost any ATX case because the screws are in the same place, and there will be a gap between the botom of the case and the motherboard. An ATX board will probably fit if it has more than 4 card slots in the back, but i would go with Micro-ATX to be safe.

Imagine you could take a regular ATX motherboard, and chop three slots off the end, making it shorter. That's mATX. It's basically the same motherboard, but shortened on one end so it has fewer slots. The remaining screw holes line up in the same positions, etc.

All ATX cases should accept an mATX motherboard. The difference will be that the shorter mATX motherboard will leave a couple slot positions unused.

this is what is in your case. It's a micro atx board.

If there is alot of room below the last white pci slots then your case has room for a regular atx mobo. If it's really tight at the bottom this is the largest board you can put in this case.
it doesnt matter if the case is atx or matx...

as long your mobo fit in it...

but, usually, if your mobo is mATX, the case also mATX

  • What ATX computer case should i get...?

I've been looking for a while, but can't find any that i really like (the one i wanted has gone off special offer and wasn't quite what i wanted, so...)

Does anyone have any recommendations of a make, or product range, or even a specific case...?

It needs to be full ATX size... And also i'd prefer that it also had a large fan (20cm min) at the side, aswell as the front/back ones...

apart from that, shouldn't be anything much else... i've never seen a full size one without enough drive bays... (2x 5.25';, 2x 3.5'; and 4 3.5'; hidden...)

as i said though, even a good brand would be a good start for me...

also, unfortunately, i have a limited budget... around 30-50 GBP... :S i'd prefer that that included a PSU (with case or just spare cash...)

thanks again...What ATX computer case should i get...?
If you don't mind having an ugly case you might get a good deal on buying an old case - like 10 or even 15 years old. You can pick up obsolete PC's for a fiver and strip all the junk out and use the case; most modern cases are biscuit-tins (lightweight but a bit crappy) but some of those old cases were built out of tank armor because they housed very expensive components.

Buy a separate PSU - maybe a Silver Power 400w - that is halfway decent because it's false economy to trust your computer to a poor quality PSU that may throw a tantrum and fritz your motherboard. What ATX computer case should i get...?
20CM fan? That's like 8 inches across. No case has that! Maybe you mean 120mm. That's more realistic and 120mm is still considered a very large fan for a case.

My personal favorite brand for computer cases is Cooler Master. Their cases are superbly designed and are a dream to work on. Most offer large fans on the case as well.
    This looks ok.

    Good ATX computer case...?

I have just bought a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3 and had a Casecom KB7760. The board didn't fit in this case so I'm out looking for a new one. The case must have 5 3.5'; internal bays, 2x 3.5'; external bays and 4x 5.25'; external bays. My priority is to get one that is black. The board is 12'; by 9.6';. It requires 7 expansion slots. Well.. the whole point of modding is to get what you want out of a computer, it's an art form really. So pick whichever case you see that looks like it will fit what you want your computer to end up looking like in the end. If you're talking about modding as in .... putting in some lights and cutting a hole in the side of the case... just look for a case with a window in it and add the lights later.

with your choices, duke casing is the best. although astone has a glossy outside paint. but duke gives you a better airflow since its mesh type. also, try to search for achilles from frontier casings i think. same manufacturer of duke i think. its also a good case.

HTHWhich is the best computer case(ATX)?
Since your mother board is micro atx you need to get a computer that is compatible with micro atx motherboards. This means that the screw holes on the computer case will match with the ones on the motherboard. I recommend you look here for Micro Atx computer cases:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis鈥?/a>

I already selected a mid tower and micro atx cases for you on this link. A mid tower is the same as a medium size computer case. It is not too big and not too small.

From your list the Astone is the only one that will work for your motherboard.I recommend that you buy the case and the power supply separately because the bundled power supplies are usually low quality and if it fails it may damage your other computer parts that are connected to it. Buy a quality power supply. I recommend you get a Corsair Brand power supply.
That all depends on how you define ';best';. Do you mean:

    - Best price?

    - Most features?

    - Best value?

    - Lightest weight?

    - Best warranty?

    - Best reputation of maker?

    - Best fit to YOUR needs?

    - Some combination of these?
    Antec 902 for midtower

    Antec 1200 for fulltower
Most cases have everything needed. I look for most airflow or biggest or most fans. Reason being a cool cpu is a good cpu. Heat shortens the life of your pc.
if your going on just for looks then dont bother because its a desktop you wont really see it

if u go for specs the Duke DUO8A is good

However, I did find out it has an LGA775 socket (wow! You have a great Intel processor there...4.2 Mhz!). Anyway, it appears that you have what is called a mid-tower size box,

but the LGA775 is typically a socket inserted into a MICROATX or Small ATX form factor board. So I am going to guess that you have a mid-size tower with a microatx form factor. What kind of computer case does an HP pavilion a1240n have, is it microATX, ATX mid tower or full?
The motherboard has 3 PCI slots and therefore could fit into any ATX case

The manufactured provided case is MicroATX.

Any 20+4 Pin PSU Should be FINE.

If you allready have it then why not just test it?
    Micro-ATX form factor, 9.6 in x 9.6 in

See the source link for data.

You replacing the board? Power supply...?

Hopefully you are aware that most of these major manf. cases have probs with pinouts and such accepting off shelf parts. Just asking.
Tower (would assume Full, since Mid isn't there)

Will a Dell Dimension 4600 case support a full size ATX mother board?

Count the pci slots on the case. Then count the expansion on the motherboard and see if there are enough. The other thing you want to look at is the number of wires on the main power connector to the motherboard. Newer boards have 24 and older ones had 20. You may need to change te power supplyWill a Dell Dimension 4600 case support a full size ATX mother board?
All Dell's, HP's, etc are proprietary. I wouldn't count on them conforming to ATX standards. All of their motherboards are proprietary and are probably engineered so that you cannot use them for an upgrade to standrad equipment (this way, they keep you coming back to Dell, see).

My advice is to not be so cheap and go out and buy a modest mid-tower. $50 - $65 is NOT a whole lot of money when building a computer. You will want to invest in a good power supply...like an Antec and not rely on the cheapo Taiwan or Chinese c.r.a.p they put in the boxes you buy.

Can i use another mother board or not.I want to buy a desktop case that says compatible motherboardsare atx and micro atx. can i use another one?
ATX and MicroATX are common standards for motherboard configurations. There is an older standard - AT - that likely you will never see. There is now a newer standard though - BTX - that is starting to become more common. The component layout of these new BTX boards is very different - you'll need a case designed specifically for it because the positioning of the expansion slots is different.

Most major vendors (Dell, HP, IBM, etc...) use a proprietary layout - none of these boards will fit in a standard ATX case.

So I guess my basic answer is No - you don't want to use an ATX case with anything other than an ATX or MicroATX motherboard - it won't fit correctly and you'll cause yourself major headaches.

One last note - All MicroATX motherboards will fit in a standard ATX case, but not the other way around - An ATX motherboard is too big for a case designed only for MicroATX, so pay attention to the type of motherboard you will be using!I want to buy a desktop case that says compatible motherboardsare atx and micro atx. can i use another one?
Sure, you may have to drill some holes.
You have your answer in your question. If it is only compatible with ATX then that's all she wrote.

Will a standard ATX mobo fit inside of a Dell Optiplex case?

I installed a standard PSU earlier this year with no problems so I'm hoping it'll be the same. But I've heard Dell uses proprietary mobos...can't really find a clear answer. Will a standard ATX mobo fit inside of a Dell Optiplex case?
Most of Dells Cases use proprietary front panel connectors. So even if the mobo fits, you won't be able to start the computer. It's better to just go out and get a different case. Trust me I've been down that road.

Can I use a ATX power supply in a microATX case, or will it be too big?

It should work fine with the motherboard, however you might have some placing issues in the case.. If it doesen't fit, you can always keep it on top or something. Can I use a ATX power supply in a microATX case, or will it be too big?

Ill a micro ATX motherboard work in a ATX mid tower case?

Most likely, a microATX will work in a ATX case. MicroATX was designed to be backwards compatible with ATX.

However, if it doesn't work, you can try drilling holes to the motherboard tray.Ill a micro ATX motherboard work in a ATX mid tower case?
It might, but probably not. What is the socket configuration of that motherboard... this will give you a better idea of its compatibility. Update and I will try and give you a better answer! -AlanIll a micro ATX motherboard work in a ATX mid tower case?
It should. Most cases have differently spaced holes to fit different standard size boards, including micro ATX.

  • Can you plug a normal atx power supply (from an old case) on a mini itx motherboard (SP13000)?

I have an old normal atx midi tower. Just bought a SP13000 mini-itx motherboard on eBay and am still planning a project so don't have a case and power supply yet for this motherboard. I want to test it is working properly though. Can I plug the atx power supply onto the board or will this fry my new board? Can you plug a normal atx power supply (from an old case) on a mini itx motherboard (SP13000)?
Test the voltage first before you try it.You need a volt meter. You should also know the voltage requirements for the new board. Can you plug a normal atx power supply (from an old case) on a mini itx motherboard (SP13000)?
If the ATX PSU header fits into the new MB, I would suspect yes.

Will i atx computer case fit a Micro ATX motherbord?

please helpWill i atx computer case fit a Micro ATX motherbord?
Of course! A microATX motherboard will fit in a ATX case! MicroATX is same thing as ATX, but smaller in size, thats all. MicroATX is designed to fit in both ATX and microATX cases. Will i atx computer case fit a Micro ATX motherbord?
    short answer yes it will
Most computer cases you buy these days will fit atx/micro atx/and btx etc.

In the case of micro atx, they use the same screw orientation as full atx boards, but with less screws due to the size of the board itself. Be sure to leave the spare screw standoff pins in there because they are easy to lose.
Usually, The case should allready have screw/stand off holes preset for several motherboards.
A Micro ATX motherboard will fit in a ATX case. MicroATX is same thing as ATX but smaller. MicroATX is designed to fit in both ATX and Micro ATX cases. The screw holes and pad will line up without a problem. Have a fun time building your PC.

    Good Luck!

Can an atx power supply fit inside a micro atx tower case?

I'm fairly sure the Micro-ATX form factor applies mainly to motherboard size and case height. The power supply dimensions should be the same. Can an atx power supply fit inside a micro atx tower case?
In many cases, yes. I would check the model/part number of the orginal power supply and look it up to be sure.

Is it possible to install an atx psu on a mini-tower case?i dun wan to buy new case coz im in a limited budget

As long as it's not a proprietary case, you'll be fine. Many Dells, Gateways and other name brands have some models that have a proprietary screw pattern in their power supplies, just to force you to buy your replacement PSU from them. I've fabricated custom adapter plates to get around that several times. Is it possible to install an atx psu on a mini-tower case?i dun wan to buy new case coz im in a limited budget
Yes, it will most likely fit in there as normal. The case just supports a smaller board form factor and less drive bays but the power supply should work fine.Is it possible to install an atx psu on a mini-tower case?i dun wan to buy new case coz im in a limited budget
ye i think it is possible

If I were to get an ATX computer case do I need to have a ATX mother board???

YesIf I were to get an ATX computer case do I need to have a ATX mother board???
    ';A full size ATX board is 12'; wide by 9.6'; deep (305 mm x 244 mm). This allows many ATX form factor chassis to accept microATX boards as well.';

Basically you can ATX or MicroATX in the vast majority of ATX compatible cases. In fact in today's computing world, its quite difficult to find any other form factored mother boardIf I were to get an ATX computer case do I need to have a ATX mother board???
actually to all you people who said yes thumbs down to you almost every single ATX full sized case support BOTH micro atx and regular atx but if i were you id go with atx espically if its for gaming
Yes you do because the motherboard is designed to be in one of these cases and if you get an AT Case and stick an ATX motherboard in it you would find it does not fit its like giving an car insides a body of a double decker bus!

Can I use MicroATX Motherboard in ATX computer case..?

But I am having problem to finding a proper case for this combo.

Can any one tell me that can I use ATX case to fit Micro ATX motherboards in.??

Thank You.Can I use MicroATX Motherboard in ATX computer case..?
Yes thats no problem they use 9 of the same 12 screws. It's the other way around that doesn't work obviously. Can I use MicroATX Motherboard in ATX computer case..?
Yes, you can fit micro atx in 99% of standard ATX cases, and if its one where you cant, read the reviews on the case before you buy it, and it will definitely be in there!. no worries.

  • Is my computer's case ATX or Micro-ATX?

Neither... HP doesn't follow the ATX standard when it comes to cases.

Can I put a micro atx motherboard into a desktop case?

You can make anything fit with a drill and a dremel tool. you may need to make a custom back plate for the ports and jacks as most desktop cases were for AT boards and they usually had cables that ran from the jacks to the motherboard. Hence, unless you have a rare ATX desktop case, you will need to change the power supply as well, as the conectors are different. Can I put a micro atx motherboard into a desktop case?
only if the case supports it.Can I put a micro atx motherboard into a desktop case?
it wont fit correctly .. but u could make it work with alittle modification ... http://images.google.com/images?client=f鈥?/a>
Yes it will work fine. Desktop cases usually support a atx motherboard. A micro atx is just the same motherboard with less slots (shorter), nothing more, rest of it is the same.

Just make sure it is a atx deskop not an old at desktop (one hole on the back and slots).
well yes but it wont realy work
Yes, as long as the its a standard ATX computer case, it has the hole pre-made for micro ATX boards as well.
if you do this you are limiting your expansion options if you don't need to expand a local computer fair will charge 拢20 to 拢25 for a case.

    hope this helps
not really,,, most desktop cases have risers and the back of the comp usually is not made for a backplate , like a tower is ,, but if you can rig it to fit ,, sure you can,, you just have to make sure your board has proper placement so your cpu and hs and fan can ventilate properly,,,

Would it be possible to move components of a Dell Optiplex GX280 Small Desktop to a regular atx case?

Also my motherboard model # is 0N4846, Dell of course. Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to upgrade everything for a little gaming. I've got 4gigs of ram on the way, maybe overkill, but i don't care. I want to upgrade video card without having to choose a low profile card. And also any suggestions on a card would be appreciated. Thanks!Would it be possible to move components of a Dell Optiplex GX280 Small Desktop to a regular atx case?
Generally no as dell uses proprietary mounting and a desktop motherboard has special arrangements to fit the lot profile cards and stuff, and thus is different from the tower form. That said, if you pick up a dell tower case, it might work. At this time the GX280 is pretty outdated, so I would not try and put (money)(time) into it and just upgrade. The Inspiron 531 Desktop (yeah, keep it simple dell! don't mix it up... pfft inspiron desktop, anyway...) is a nice option. It's a full tower with an AMD Dual Core CPU with a PCI-Express slot so you can use a modern graphics card rather than pay more for one on the Obsolete agp format, and can be gotten on ebay for like $200.

All dell's have XP key for Dell XP in the bios so you are good for OS. Also AMD dual cores are the way to go unless you overclock, as they offer similar performance to Intels at lower prices.

Sorry I just looked at an image of your motherboard: if you can find like a dell tower case for an Optiplex 230, I think you should be able to put it in easily. Must be a different model where the board bends sideways. My Dad works for a college and brings home their junked computers, and I see a lot of Dell's (not because they are bad, it's just what they use).Would it be possible to move components of a Dell Optiplex GX280 Small Desktop to a regular atx case?
No. That's a proprietory board and can't be used in a normal case. Main reason is the ribbon cable the board uses to feed the front of the case. It's #6 on the orange schematic your link shows. A standard case doesn't use that type of setup. If you want to do some mild gaming I suggest you just buy a low-profile video card for your present case. Here's an example:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as鈥?/a>

Something to bear in mind is that, althou this card includes the low-profile bracket, most don't so, if you buy one that doesn't you'll have to buy the bracket separately. You simply replace the bracket on the card with the low-profile bracket so it can run in your case. There are also 8600GT low profile video cards if you're an Nvidia fan.
