Will an ATX motherboard fit on a MicroATX case?

My current motherboard is an MicroATX form.

I want to get a new motherboard so i can install a core 2 duo processor on it.

Or will a MicroATX do well with a core 2 duo e8400, Nvidia 8600gt 512mb ddr3, and three gigs. Will an ATX motherboard fit on a MicroATX case?
no, the board has more expansions slots than back panels on the micro ATX case, it would be best to just buy an ATX case
